Sore Eyes?

If you spend any time staring at a computer screen, you owe it to yourself to have your eyes examined on a regular basis.

Examinations, Health Assessments and Eyeglass Prescriptions in Red Deer

Whether you’ve recently noticed a change in your vision or you’ve worn the same pair of corrective lenses for years, it’s wise to schedule eye examinations on a regular basis. No matter what stage of life you are at, Bower Place Eye Center tests patients for a variety of conditions. Not only will we set you up with the right eyeglass prescription at our Red Deer location, but we also check for any signs of disease or other potential issues. Poor ocular health often points to other medical concerns that can negatively impact your overall well-being.

Children

Starting at 6 months of age, it is recommended that you bring your child in for their first examination, with one to follow at around age 3. At this stage, we are looking for any indications of disease that could impact their visual development (which continues to about 8 years of age). Once your little ones reach school age, we advise annual checkups to ensure their studies aren’t affected by ocular deficiencies. Poor reading levels can be the result of an undiagnosed visual issue. Although your children may claim their eyesight is fine, it is important that a professional assess their vision for a number of other potential conditions that are not as readily apparent. As a resident of Alberta, the cost of your children’s exams will be covered by Alberta Health until they reach 19 years of age.

Adults

As we age and seemingly spend more time in front of our digital devices, it becomes imperative that we take good care of our eyes. If you haven’t visited your optometrist in years, or you’re experiencing sore, dry eyes or blurred vision, it is definitely time to schedule an appointment to come in. Regular visits allow us to monitor your health and put prevention strategies in place for early treatment. Proactive exams allow us to protect the quality of your vision for the years ahead.

Seniors

Annual checkups should be the norm for anyone over 65. Unfortunately, cataracts (a clouding of the lens), glaucoma and macular degeneration are common conditions for many people at this stage of life. As with any ailment, early detection is paramount in maintaining your quality of eyesight. Today’s modern equipment and corrective treatments offer a strong defense against further vision loss, but preventative strategies only work if your eye doctor can monitor you on a regular basis.

Don’t allow dry eyes and blurred vision to become part of your everyday routine, schedule an appointment to see us today.
